The water
supply and sewer network in many cities of the new States, but not only here, have to a
great extent to be renewed.
Very often structures are to be placed in a depth of below 3 m, thus construction in open
trench is excluded. Interference with traffic should be restricted as far as possible.
Sometimes ways have to be driven under buildings. For such cases underground
shield-driven tunnels have to be established, necessitating access and exit shafts, which
have to be lowered in appropriate circular sheeting.

LinerPlate steel parts are most suitable for circular shafts. The steel plates (segments)
are assembled to shaft rings with a specified width and the rings are joined together. The
segments are curved according to the diametre of the shaft. The desired depth of the shaft
is a multiple of the plate width.
Two types of LinerPlate are produced:
2-Flange LinerPlate: profiled steel plates with lapped joint in ring
direction, and flanged joint in direction shaft depth
4-Flange LinerPlate: curved smooth-wall steel plates with flanged joint
in each direction
With the size of the steel plates assembly and disassembly can be made without lifting
equipment, a great advantage for handling with increasing depth. On account of the
stiffness of the assembled structure, shafts with small depth can be preassembled and
totally lowered.
A variety of selected shaft diametres is made possible by combining plates of different
lengths available.
Especially the 2-flange LinerPlate with its higher stiffness and wall friction, which is
given by the corrugation of the steel plates, offers a great many other applications:
working shafts for well systems and tunnel systems
working shafts and, at the same, self supporting sheeting for large piles
inspection shafts for stock piling
Frequent use of LinerPlate include the renewal and relining of tunnel and gallary
structures, arch structures. For these purposes Hamco offers optimum profile shapes, such
as pipe arches and arch profiles. Easy and simple handling also permits the use at places
difficult to reach. LinerPlate structur s are designed for full load acceptance. Space
between LinerPlate and tunnel and/or gallary is filled by grouting. |
